Welcome to the Plant-Powered Revolution. This January, AWA is hosting a week-long series of events celebrating veganism- from community, to history, to of course, delicious food. We are so excited to connect UCLA students, vegan or not, AWA members or not, through the week's festivities, our PPR Bingo, and the UCLA X Veganuary Challenge.
PPR Kickoff Movie Night: "The Smell of Money"
When: 6-8pm. Where: Hitch Study Lounge 100. Stop by to watch and eat free Garlic Noodles and Egg Rolls provided by 24Vegan.
Animal Welfare Alliance Bake Sale
Stop by our table on Bruin Walk from 10-4 for some sweet vegan treats! Those pledged to Veganuary at UCLA will be able to spin our favorite trivia wheel for a prize.
Bruins Opposing Speciesism x Veganuary: “The History of Veganuary”
When: 5-6pm. Where: Zoom. This virtual event will include a short film, a talk from Veganuary’s US Director, Sandra Hungate, and a Q&A portion
Animal Welfare Alliance x UCLA Farmer’s Market Food Demonstration
When: 2-6pm. Where: Bruin Plaza. Come out for a fun afternoon of fresh produce and culinary expertise with UCLA Farmer’s Market!
Community Bplate Dinner + Veganuary Check-In
When: 6:30-7:30. Where: Bplate. Everyone's invited to join us for some good food and laughs as we build community together! If you live off the hill, AWA board will swipe you in :)
VegFest at UCLA, presented by Lives Without Knives
When: 11am-5pm. Where: Wilson Plaza. Vegfest at UCLA, hosted by BadAss Vegan, is a vibrant one-day event that brings together local vegan businesses, plant-forward student organizations, vegan non-profits, and popular vegan food trucks. Come for free food and a great time!
Plant Futures @ UCLA x New Roots Institute Professional Workshop
When: 6-6:50pm. Where: Ackerman Union 3508.
Join us for a presentation by the New Roots Institute discussing factory farming and relevant career opportunities in plant-centric food systems.
UCLA x USC Clover Social at Hart House
When: 5-7pm. Set the rivalry aside for a night of vegan comfort food at Hart House Hollywood, fun games and prizes, and friendly mingling with our rivals, and cross-campus vegan solidarity!
